Role Description:
The Inventory Accounting Analyst helps ensure inventory activity is accurately reflected in our financial records. In this role, you will use Excel, point-of-sale data, and accounting reports to investigate inventory differences, support month-end reporting, and work with operations and finance teams to resolve issues. This role plays an important part in ensuring inventory results are accurate, timely, and reliable. You will gain exposure to inventory accounting, store operations, month-end reporting, and system-driven process improvements.
 
Responsibilities:
Inventory Accounting and Reconciliations:
  • Review inventory activity to identify differences between point-of-sale systems and accounting records.
  • Investigate inventory adjustments that affect store profit and loss results.
  • Prepare or support corrections needed for accurate month-end reporting. 
Analysis and Problem-Solving:
  • Use Excel and system reports to compare data, identify exceptions, and determine root causes.
  • Review gross profit results to confirm the correct cost is applied to sales transactions.
  • Identify recurring issues and suggest practical improvements to reduce errors, improve consistency, and support accurate reporting. 
Cross-Functional Support:
  • Work with store, operations, and finance teams to resolve inventory-related questions.
  • Provide guidance to managers and administrative team members on inventory discrepancies.
  • Support testing or process changes that affect inventory accounting. 
 
Job Requirements:
  • 2+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory administration, or similar reconciliation experience.
  • Comfortable working with numbers, reports, and detailed transactional data.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and working with large data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with inventory accounting is considered an asset but not required. Training will be provided on Kal Tire systems and processes.
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
 
Negotiable Requirements:
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems, enterprise resource planning systems, or accounting software.
  • Experience investigating inventory, margin cost or transaction discrepancies. 
  • Experience with Microsoft D365, TSS, KINS, PeopleSoft, or similar systems.
